North East Organic Growers is a workers co-op based at Earth Balance, Bomarsund (twelve miles north of Newcastle-upon-Tyne). Existing since 1995, we grow organic vegetables on our twelve acre site, and run a "box scheme", which is a cost-effective way of buying certified organic seasonal vegetables and fruit on a regular basis. All produce is certified organic and guaranteed to be free of added pesticides, herbicides and GMOs, grown using ecologically sound and sustainable methods so members will be supporting a healthier environment as well as their own health. Here is a summary of what we offer: Product List:Typical Contents - all bags and eggs available weekly and fortnightlySmall Veg bag - Potatoes and a mixture of four or five other varieties. £6.00. Medium Veg bag - Potatoes, carrots, onions and four to five other varieties. £8.00. Basic Veg bag - Larger quantities of potatoes, carrots, onions and one or two other varieties. £8.00. Large Veg bag - Potatoes, carrots, onions and five to seven other varieties. £11.00. Standard Fruit bag - Usually four or five varieties, for example, apples, oranges, bananas, pear. £6. Double Fruit bag - More of the above plus two or three extra varieties. £11. All produce is organic and subject to season and availability. That not grown by us will be sourced from other certified Organic Growers or Wholesalers, as locally as possible. Veg bags collected from the Earth Balance collection point will be discounted one pound. Eggs - we provide organic free range hens' eggs for £1.90/half dozen.
